Standard time shift, Lego & Leaves

Happy extra hour of sleep day.  Believe it or not we were lucky enough to have children that accommodated the time change.  Marlo slept snuggled into me until 9:30am new time and Otis was downstairs playing with Lego.  

There are times when I get frustrated about the Lego situation at our house.  It cost a fortune, it is hard to find a storage solution that keeps each set separate, and It really really hurts when I step on it.  I can only imagine how many pieces Marlo is going to get into her mouth.

It isn't until I find something like this ship around the house that I can appreciate Lego and the amazing creativity it allows a child to explore.  I found this ship in Marlo's bed beside me when I woke up this morning.  He told me what kind of ship it was.  I could not repeat the name if I tried, let alone type it so all of you could know what it is called.  Lets just call it another Star Wars battle ship.

Right now the boys are outside cleaning the fall leaves.  The city is coming any day now to pick them from the curb.  It would really suck if we didn't get the leaves to the curb.  We had to bag them up one year and it took us over 25 bags to do so.  Thanks Mom for getting most of it done for us.

Giant Leaf Pile #2

We finally got out there and cleaned up the leaves.  If we didn't do it soon we were going to be carting them away our selves.  The area of the city we live in has curbside leaf pick up.  Which is awesome.  We fill the tarp with leaves and drag them to the curb.  Way less of a hassle then having to put all of those leaves into paper bags.  Check out the video below.

Pumpkin Patch = PP 2010 # 2

All the other kids in his class brought home pumpkins you can carve.  Here are the pumpkins Otis picked.  They are so small he was allowed to have two. 

Pumpkin Patch = PP 2010 Trip # 1

Otis is on his first school trip to the pumpkin patch today.  We went to the same patch a few days ago to get this really neat looking variety of pumpkin I knew the farm grew.  They were all picked over and the few that were left did not look very good so we left empty handed.

The patch itself was beautiful. I love the shot above with the grave yard in the back ground.  It reminds me of Charlie brown and the Great Pumpkin.   We will be heading to another patch this weekend to get our Jack O'lantern pumpkins.  We currently have 13 pie and naked seed pumpkins out on the porch.  We will be having a pumpkin carving afternoon on the day of Halloween.  I will keep the little ones until then just in case anyone doesn't have a pumpkin to carve.  I am going to bake and puree the pie pumpkins for the freezer.  I manages to make a tiny bit of space in the las week or so.  A few weeks back I made these pumpkin cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting for a Sunday dinner.  They did'n last long enough to take a picture.  Maybe next time.

Otis loved the slide at this place/ Look how fast he is going.  His hair goes from flat to winged up.

Curious George wanted to pose in the pumpkin too.  We haven't been to this farm since Otis was a baby.  It has a lot more to do now then it did then.  They just keep on adding things bit by bit.

These goats cracked me up.  I wish I could have watched them climb up there. They just hang out up there.

Leaves

Our neighbour rented one of those super leaf blowers and blew all the leaves that had fallen so far to the back corner of our lot.  Otis could barely contain himself while our neighbour was working on them.  Otis is in the pile above.  I can't even tell where he is.

 Today I was going to start moving them to the curb when a little boy we all know got upset at the idea.  So I told him he had until the rest of the leaves fell before I would move them.  It reminded me of a sitcom I watched recently where the boy made his dad bring all the leaves to the forest to set them free.  It is amazing how we as adults find raking leaves work while children become so connected to them.  I love that  I am able to watch the world through a child eye.

If only I could get him to wear real shoes now that summer is long gone.  What am I saying I am still wearing sandles.

There are so many leaves and the tree is only half done.  I was hoping there wouldn't be nearly as many leaves this year due to the pruning we did last year.  

Happy Thanksgiving

We have a lot to be thankful for this year.  I hope everyone in Canada was able to spend the day with their loved ones.

Pink Rainbow Sky

This was the beautiful sky a few nights back.  We stopped during dinner to go check it out.  Iw was so stunning.  just a few minutes later it was completely gone.

Singing in The Rain

It rained most of the morning yesterday.  Otis and his friend spent some time out in the rain. 

I let him stay out until the thunder started.  He has not been interested in playing in the rain before.  

Today it is freezing, not a single window is opened.  I think this has been the first time since early spring that I have had all the windows closed. 

Fall is on the way.  I have mixed feelings this year as it means the outdoor time will shrink.  I feel like we just put the summer furniture out.  Here's to Indian Summer I hope it sticks around for a bit.

P.S. Can I tell you how much I love my larger lens.  Look how far they are.

Picking Apples

Otis and I got up bright and early the Saturday of Thanksgiving to get to Oshawa to pick Apples with Nanny and crew.  I wasn`t able to go last year.  This was the first time I had been picking apples.  I am so happy that I didn`t lose these pictures after all.  There are a few gems.

Attack

I was taking pictures of Otis jumping in the leaves.  This four picture set is amazing.  Hampton attacked Otis before he could jump. 

Pumpkin Day
