Little Miss M's Corner

I have been busy nesting as they say.  It was time to start getting ready for this little one to get here.  I have been at the sewing machine a lot over the last couple of weeks making all the little bits I need.

Here is a list of everything I have sewn in the last 2 weeks:

• 12 burp cloths

• 32 cloth wipes
• 16 cloth diaper liners
• 8 sets of breast pads

• 5 change pads

• 3 receiving blankets
• 1 swaddle blanket

• 1 diaper bag

• and a set curtain for the door

Little Miss M will not be getting her own room for awhile yet.  We have set up a corner of the house to be her very own for now.  It has her change table and dresser in it.  She also has her own closet.  She will be staying in our room to start and Otis has asked to share a room with her when she is in the crib.  We will see if this actually happens it.  But for now her corner will work.  I have had just a much fun getting this corner ready as if I was setting up her own room.

Bathroom Reno - After

Here is our finished Bathroom.  If you don't remember what it used to look like click here to remember.  The room is so small it is hard to get good pictures.  I love how it turned out. 

It still surprises me to walk into a finished bathroom.

Painting the Bathroom

We Painted our bathroom last weekend.  Most of the renovations were finished about 5 months ago.  There was a leak that caused us to delay finishing until it was looked after.  We finally had the chance to get the rest of the bathroom finished.  During the last five months we had lived without a door on the bathroom.  Ever since we put the door back on we have all been banging into it.

Otis was a big help with the painting.  The after pictures to come in the next couple of days.

Clean Fridge

My mom is going to love this post.  My fridge drives her crazy every time she comes over.   It is unorganized and she can't find anything.  Look at it now.

This is the first time my fridge has been close to empty since May.   It was time for a scrub down.  I couldn't understand why there was an awful smell coming from it being so close to empty.  It was nasty.  Turns out it was some leftover braised kale.  My goal this weekend is to finish up most of the produce by Bailey's pick up on Monday.

I need to figure out what to do with Jerusalem Artichokes, Brussel sprouts and purple cabbage.  Google here I come.

Bathroom Reno - Before

We started the Bathroom Reno this weekend.  I have been collecting things for this renovation since the day we got the house.  I bought the vanity in Toronto on my way back from a conference on the same day we got the keys to the house.

The only problem with buying things so long ago is that we never put it together to find out I was given the wrong cabinet.  Dave's dad did some creative work and now it fits.

We still have the painting and finishing touches to do.  I hope by next week my head cold will be gone and we get a chance to finish it up.  If I could only decide on a colour to paint.

Grass: Before & After

Here is our lawn when we moved in.  There wasn't much.

Here it now.  We are almost there.  

Door Light

Did you know the window in a door is called a light?

Here a close up. We had the trim installed on the inside this weekend. I couldn't get a good shot from the outside in.

I had much better luck inside out.

New Front Door

We installed the New Front Door on Sunday. I forgot to take before pictures while the door was on the wall. Here it is in our hall way.

We also got a new Light and mail box. I am still in search of new house numbers.

Here it is. I need to dig out the paint brushes. There is a lot of out door painting that needs to get done. The Door, the railings, the Chairs and the Shutters. I haven't painted a single thing in this house since last October. I have been sort of dreading it. I am sure I will get back into the swing of things again. We also need to reframe the inside. Hopefully in the near future. Hampton has taken to digging out the dry wall around the door.

1 Year Already

We have now owned the Beaver Cleaver House for 1 Year. It has kept us busy to say the least. In the coming Months there will be more Before and afters as we make changes to the out side and Laundry room. I can't wait.

Our Room: Before and After

This is a dramatic Before and after this room went from a room lost in the durty rose beige carpet of the eitghties to a almost finished retreat.

I still need to get the pictures for above the bed printed and framed. Otis has set up shop and sleep in our room part of the night.

Although this bedding works we have been using it for 8 years. I just need to find one I like.

Otis's Room: Before and After

Otis' room hasn't gone through much change recently we just put pictures up finally. However it did go through a heavy duty colour change from when we took ownership of the house.
The room was a shiny purple with glow in the dark stars on the ceiling and a note that read I hate my Dad July 1997.

We painted the room the same as the apartment to ease the trasition a bit for him. During the first two weeks when we camped in the living room Otis was the only one to have a working room. Here is moving day.

Rec Room: After

This room is the second largest transformation of the house so far. I wish I had before pictures of this room.

Basically it was a Sea Foam Green Nightmare. When we purchased the house we were aware of a small leak in the corner of the room where the large window is.

What we didn't know is where the said leak was coming from. It could have been a very expensive foundation job.

Lucky for us it wasn't. Who Ever put the Windows in originally, installed the correct drainage ect. They just missed something, they didn't put some sort of screen over the drain pipe. They also planted a garden in the window well.

What ended up happening over the years is the run off dirt filled the drain pipe and rotted away the window frame. Water and dirt leaked in.

The fix worked out to $50 in materials and Dave spending a day of hard labour to fixing it.

Once the leak was fixed it meant we could then fix up the rec room. We started the room on a Saturday night and by Tuesday we were putting everything in.

Dave and I took on different Jobs this way we didn't have to wait for Mr. O to go to bed.

He emptied the room and took out the gross green carpet. We found two layers of tile and a plywood sub-floor which meant we were good to go.

I then spent the next day painting many many coats of white.

1 coat primer
2 coats flat on the ceiling
3 coats semi gloss on the walls
2 coats gloss on the trim

I had missed a spot and used the wrong luster to fix it what a pain.

The next day Dave and his dad put down the Laminate. We were very luck to have got everything on sale for this room. The whole room including the leak cost less than $275. can you believe that it still blows my mind.

This was an easy transformation. Once the rec room was done.

I panted out the walls and Base boards and placed the furniture.
